ELLIOTT DONLON SYSTEM WRANGLER

Hi, I'm Elliott! I've followed my love for designing and building electromechanical systems from Hawaii to Massachusetts to California where I served as a senior mechanical engineer at Fyto. Here, I leveraged effective communication and technical problem-solving skill to make autonomously-harvested, sustainable agriculture a reality.

I address the problems of today both through making tangible things for people and through translating big, intangible problem statements into technical requirements and then executing. Going forward, I’m looking for new ways to apply my systems-level, user-centric thinking, and my design and manufacturing skills to problems at the intersection of societal behavior and natural resources, such as sustainable agriculture and material waste reduction.

In my off time, you'll find me playing games, hiking to abandoned gem mines, glassblowing, or running.

Take a look at the projects below or feel free to contact me if you'd like to know more!

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Fyto leverages the aquatic plant, Lemna, to turn nitrogen-rich wastewater into nutritious feed and fertilizer using our autonomous cropping system.  During my time at Fyto, I was responsible for engineering cost-effective, robust solutions for harvesting and processing our aquatic plants.

Project Engineer

In the aerospace and defense department at Giner, we built on proven solutions for life support and Hydrogen power systems while also researching and testing novel ideas that improved upon them. I was program manager for the Oxygen Generating Assembly and Advanced Oxygen Generating Assembly which electrolyzed water to support crew life on the International Space Station.
